Favorite Concert of 2011: Demi Lovato’s Unbroken Tour
Went to a few concerts and live shows this past year and enjoyed every single one of them. Live music is so therapeutic for the soul and REALLY good music is even better. Unfortunately there were a lot of concerts that I wasn’t able to go to due to unfortunate timing and my own bad luck. I managed to miss Death Cab AGAIN, couldn’t make it to Austin City Limits for Sara Bareilles, went out of town on the day the Watch The Throne tour passed through Houston. And don’t get me started on missing Taylor Swift’s show. So, I’m actually kind of surprised that the Demi show worked in my favor, especially since she came to town when my best friend, who also loves her was home for Thanksgiving. But no complaints here, not gonna question why the universe decided to be on my side this one time.
I’ve said it a million times and you will probably hear me say ten million times more, but Demi is TRULY talented. Girl was born to do this and that passion is easily noticed in the way she pours her heart and soul on that stage. Never in my life have I experienced a concert where I went from wanting to go dancing in a club to jumping up and down in a mosh pit to curling up into the fetal position and weeping my eyes out. Long story short, she is absolutely incredible live.
Lightweight was my favorite live song (and fave off the album). The video isn’t from the Houston show but I love how it gives you a view of the entire stage including the dancers. I thought Travis Wall did a great job at choreographing this piece, the dancing was a great touch.
Honorable mentions: Femme Fatale Tour. I mean come on, it’s Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj! Though it would have been an added bonus had we got the leg of the tour that Pauly D was DJ’s at. The Plain White T’s show at House of Blues was also fun. Mainly because it was free and weren’t expecting that. What up being a Rocket’s employee and getting the hook up!
